Most of us know that yoga is a healthy wellness exercise for both body and mind. Its practice not only makes you stronger physically and mentally, it also helps you increase muscle tone as well as help you manage body weight.
So here they are
Vinyasa: Also known as flow yoga, the transition between poses is smooth almost like “fluid.” Movements and breathing are synchronized in this type of yoga.
Hatha: This yoga type is a combination of postures, meditation, and breathing.
The end goal here is to invigorate both the body and mind. Generally, this is slow-paced to focus on the poses and breathing.
Yin: This type of yoga uses the Taoist traditions. The focus is on performing passive postures to target your connective tissues like your lower spine, pelvis, and hips.
This is the best with those who are looking forward to meditation throughout the session.
Restorative: This practice is all about passive stretching and slowing down. Its slow pace is a great remedy to stress and a complement to a busy life. Think of it as healing/harmonizing/balancing the body from the inside-out.
And here are 3 reasons why yoga is not just for a few.
1. Yoga relieves stress.
Yoga will benefit people, regardless of walks of life. You see, there will always be at least one type of yoga that will feel right for you. Whatever style of yoga you decide to practice, you will learn to pay attention to your breathing.
When we take deep breaths, we are actually relaxing our fight responses, which in turn can alleviate tension and anxiety. Paying close attention to our breathing patterns is by far the simplest way to improve our mindset.
2. Yoga, contrary to popular belief, is not for “slim” people only.
The attractive image of a yogi/yogini who turns his/her body into a pretzel-like shape while performing beautifully yet improbable contortions make people think that yoga is just for “thin” and “bendy bodies.”
This representation is misleading in terms of looking into the true essence of this ancient technique.
In fact, the sacred practice of yoga cannot be defined by shape, size, and age. It is for every-body and pretty much every pose can be adjusted to anyone’s “level” of flexibility and strength. -I wrote “level in quotes because truly yoga has no levels ;)
3. Yoga is universal, benefits-wise.
Often life’s demands are not easy to handle and stress takes over our natural state of peace & joy.
Are you looking for a healthy, self-improving practice that can help you cope with every day’s demands? Then yoga is definitely worth the try.
Both your physique and mental health will thank you for it.
