Happiness relies on how our brain processes our life’s events.
Have you had a moment when you felt annoyed and irritated by something that, in hindsight, was not worth the intensity of your emotions?
Life can get hectic and in between completing tasks, we tend to become anxious, stressed, and wary.
How you react to the events unfolding right before you is the biggest reason why it is extremely necessary to learn how to stay energized, focused, and calm.

Now, is there anything tangible, real, and effective enough to help us have a “brighter” perspective on things?
There is! It’s Meditation!
What is Meditation?
Meditation has been characterized as a solitary practice while sitting quietly to clear the mind.
It’s aided by regulated breathing, although there are other associated positions like sitting on crossed legs or even lying down - although the possibility of falling asleep is greater in this case.
What should you think about when meditating?
Here are some tips on how to get started:
Take Deep Breaths
Your breathing is important in meditation because it is what will guide you all throughout the practice. Notice how as you slow the breathing down the body relaxes and as the body relaxes the breathing becomes smoother and longer.
Start by taking several deep breaths. Inhale from the nose and exhale from the mouth for a couple of rounds, to let go of any stagnant energy. Feel how each deep breath affects the other parts of the body.
Set your focus from one body apart to another
Focus on the parts of your body. Feel your diaphragm moving up and down, your arms on top of your folded knees.
Do a body scan, and feel what you feel without judging or analyzing.
If there are tight areas within your body, send the breath in that direction and soften into it.
Think about 3 things you are most grateful for at the time
Start the session with gratitude. Think about three things that you are most thankful for at that moment.
When you focus on these things, you will realize that your life isn’t bad after all.
With constant practice, you will have a happier disposition in life.
Reflect on what you have done that day
Try to recall the events on that day and find at least one valuable lesson that you can start to live-by. If you choose to meditate during the morning, you can take the events of the previous day and ponder on any of those.
Discover what truly inspires you
When meditating, think about new ideas and ask yourself, “will this inspire me?” You can think about books, people, or random things- anything.
The important thing here is to find that which sparks creativity and drive in you.
When your meditation is completed drink a glass of water,
stretch, or sit in a quiet corner and relax.
Allow your mind to stay at its current speed for a little while. Your process of transitioning from meditating to returning to your routine is instrumental in helping to maintain a calm and focused mind.
Thousands of those who meditate claim that the practice has helped them become more focused, more peaceful, more grateful, more attentive, and less worried.
If you want to experience a more focused and calm life, meditate.
