How letting go of expectations opens to life’s many possibilities

As we walk through this wonderful journey of life, we live through various stages of maturity and levels of growth.  In these times, society -and maybe even the entire world- has written a list of “expectations” from us to abide by to reach what is believed to be the ultimate goal in life, success.  What does success mean, though?   As I sit here, I ponder the endless possibilities we can all have if we let go of the one thing you are trained to acquire  since learning to walk, expectations.  Expectations! What a word that is.  you are expected to do certain things and be a certain way to achieve -fill in the blanks- by a certain time because society has implanted that if you don’t, you are not worthy (of what?)  or will never be successful (in what?).  One thing that 2020 has taught us all is to  let go of expectations and live life in the present moment.   If you apply this concept to the rest of your lives, the possibilities will be endless.  After all, all the happiness and success

5 Ways to Incorporate a Spiritual Practice in the New Year

The year 2020 has truly shaken our world to the core,  I think we can all assert that.  With all that's been happening, we inevitably find ourselves thinking about what is next and what can we do to tackle any challenges that may surface.  We cannot control what happens around us,  but we can control how we handle the circumstances.  The year 2021 is fastly approaching and I am here to talk about different ways in which you can incorporate a spiritual practice into your life.  This journey will make you feel excited and in control of your emotions and stresses.  Who doesn’t want to feel this way? I know I do!  Meditation Having a daily meditation practice is when you clear your mind and truly listen to your subconscious.  This is the time when you hear your  intuition and connect to your heart center.  There are a lot of misconceptions about meditation, one of which being trying to not have any thoughts and just “clearing your mind”.  Even though this can somewhat be true, meditati

Take your Yoga Off the Mat - Yama & Nyama in Action

The word   yoga   serves as an umbrella to depict various aspects of life: the spiritual, the physical, the everyday behaviors,  the way we relate to others, and so much more.  For  some, yoga is purely a physical exercise, a way to get stronger, healthier and more flexible; for others it’s meditating each day, and for others it might mean chanting mantras.  One thing is for sure, yoga serves as a transformative step into a deep sense of wellbeing that goes way beyond the physical, no matter what that may mean for you.   Yama and Niyama - described in the yoga sutra of Patanjali are  considered the “rules” of how to be in a constant state of yoga (union of body/mind and spirit).   They are defined as a moral code towards yourself and others;  a way of taking your yoga off the mat and into your life.  Following the yama and niyama forms the foundation of your entire practice, and honouring these ethics as you walk along life’s journey, means you are always being mindful of each action,

What Yoga Is Not

Yoga is a practice we can all benefit from.  No matter who you are, what circumstances you are in, or where you are from, the yogic journey shows you how to integrate mind/body and spirit.  As social media is more and more prevalent these days, yoga has become a mainstream exercise that people practice gaining muscle, flexibility, and strength. But is that all it has to offer?  The answer is no!  Today I am describing what yoga is not and how you can get the full yogic experience next time you get on your mat and carry it -off the mat-.    I think we can all agree that the asana part of yoga is a great way to get in shape, but it’s the deeper side of it that truly changes your life.  Yoga is, most of all, a spiritual practice .  It offers the power and beauty to  work through your emotional stress and psychological challenges; it encourages you to reach for a deeper spiritual connection with your higher Self and to live in a deeper state of consciousness. This level of spiritual awaren

5 Things to Think About While Meditating

Happiness relies on how our brain processes our life’s events . Have you had a moment when you felt annoyed and irritated by something that, in hindsight, was not worth the intensity of your emotions?   Life can get hectic and in between completing tasks, we tend to become anxious, stressed, and wary.  How you react to the events unfolding right before you is the biggest reason why it is extremely necessary to learn how to stay energized, focused, and calm.   Report: 12 Happiness Myths Debunked   Now, is there anything tangible, real, and effective enough to help us have a “brighter” perspective on things? There is! It’s Meditation! What is Meditation? Meditation has been characterized as a solitary practice while sitting quietly to clear the mind.  It’s aided by regulated breathing, although there are other associated positions like sitting on crossed legs or even lying down - although the possibility of falling asleep is greater in this case. What should you think about when meditat
